New colonies require a minimum of 15–20 workers (or more) before they are ready to move into a nest. If a colony is too small, they can become stressed and may stall out entirely.
Look for “Ready for Nest” in the item description to find colonies that are prepared for direct transition into a nest and are no longer in the test tube growth stage.
